Our Mission Statement

The Barrington United Methodist Church is a welcoming community, centered in Christ, and inspired by the gospel. We seek to nurture each person's faith journey through joyful worship, supportive fellowship, and active outreach ministries, so that all may experience the deeper peace of God in their lives.

Church Services

For your convenience, there are now two worship services offered at the Barrington United Methodist Church. The first is a Prayer & Praise Service at 8:15 AM and features Holy Communion every Sunday. The second sevice is the Traditional Worship Service at 10:15 AM, and offers a nursery for toddlers/infants.  Also during this time is Sunday School for children of all ages.

Between the 8:15 Service and the 10:15 service, there is a time for a relaxed, social gathering with refreshments in Fellowship Hall.

Fellowship Hall is available for special groups. Please call the Church Office at (401) 245-2385 for booking or e-mail us at barringtonumc@fullchannel.net.

We welcome all visitors with open doors and open arms.
Come join us this Sunday!

Rev. Charles A. Bark, Jr.

Rev. Charles A. Bark, Jr. was appointed to the Barrington United Methodist Church, and assumed his duties on July 1, 2007. Says Charlie, "My wife and I are thrilled and grateful to be appointed to the Barrington UMC. In our meeting with the Staff Parish Committee, it was obvious that this church is filled with loving, caring and energetic Disciples of Christ, and we feel very privileged to be part of your congregation." Charlie, being on his third career, brings much experience to the ministry. He began life as a Presbyterian in western Pennsylvania, and attended Allegheny College. Upon graduation, he entered Naval Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Newport, RI. It was here when he first met Alice Tenczar, a New Bedford native, and student at Salve Regina College. Two years later, after Alice's graduation, they met again in Boston where he was a division officer on the USS Wasp (CVS 18) and she was a research assistant at Mass. General Hospital. They Married in 1964. After leaving the Navy in 1971, Charlie began a career in sales, focusing on the design of HVAC systems. During this period, they lived in New Bedford, MA for about five years and then moved to Boardman, Ohio. In 1985, Charlie felt called to ministry, so after their youngest son graduated from high school, he and Alice left Ohio for seminary at Boston University School of Theology. In 1988, he received his Master of Divinity degree, and in 1990 he was appointed to the Bryantville UMC in Pembroke, MA, where he served for five years. In 1995, he was appointed to the John Wesley UMC in Falmouth, where he has served for the past 12 years. In addition to his pastoral duties, he currently serves on the Board of Ordained Ministry, and has previously been the Spiritual Director for the NEAC Chrysalis Community, the Convener of the Falmouth Clergy Association and President of the Upper Cape Chaplaincy Committee.
